FUNDRAISING pensioner Rudy Weeber has returned home after cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats.
Rudy was diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago and given six months to live, but has defied the odds and completed the 900-mile ride to raise more than £3,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Rudy, who celebrated his 70th birthday on the trip, paid tribute to cycling partner Mike Johnson, 60, of Alexandra Close, Grays, who supported him.
They completed the trip in 12-and-a-half days - an average of 65 miles a day.
Rudy, of Barry Close, Chadwell St Mary, said: "It was very hard but the support was excellent."
In the past, Rudy raised £36,000 for Marie Curie, £10,000 for Mencap and £8,000 for the British Heart Foundation.
