POLICE divers will be searching the River Thames today for a missing 18-year-old from Grays.
The youngster has been named as Adunayo Shittu of Stifford Clays. Police were called shortly after 6pm on Tuesday following reports that a man who had been swimming off of Grays Beach had been pulled under by a strong current.
The man was with two 15-year-old girls from Grays, a 17-year-old boy from Grays, and a 21-year-old man from Dagenham at the time.
A joint search and rescue operation was launched by police and Her Majesty's Coastguard.
Officers from the Essex Marine Unit, helped by divers from the Met, will continue scouring the water and coastline today (Thurs).
Last night they were forced to call the search off at 9.30pm when it got too dark.
