THE Citizen's Advice Bureau on Canvey is hoping to raise £6,000 to help expand its services.
Castle Point bureau manager Christine Neville has ambitious plans for the Long Road offices and hopes to introduce an enhanced telephone answering service.
The bureau is a charity which receives a significant amount of its funding from both Castle Point Council and Essex County Council, but the remaining third is raised by grants and fundraising.
There are some full-time staff, but most are volunteers, helping people resolve their legal, financial and other problems.
Mrs Neville said: "There is no such thing as a typical client, you don't know who is going to come through the door."
Anyone wanting to donate, volunteer or seek help from the bureau should contact the office on either Tuesdays and Thursdays when it is open.
