A SCHOOLBOY has raised £376 for Cancer Research by having his ponytail cut off.

Paul Parfit, 11, started growing the ponytail nearly two years ago when his granddad Derek was diagnosed with cancer.

When the news came through that Derek was in remission Paul decided to raise money for the charity as a thank you. His mother, Lorraine Parfit, 44, said of her son’s gesture: “All the family are so proud of him especially his granddad.”

Paul, from Chadwell St Mary, was cheered on as he had his hair cut in front of his friends and fellow pupils at Woodside Primary school, Grays.

I'm sure he'll look much better now. Someone should've told the lad that ponytails really aren't cool.
