RESIDENTS are being encouraged to go green as part of a county-wide campaign.

A recycling advice campaign has been launched by Essex County Council in partnership with district and borough councils, including Maldon District Council, to give residents information and encouragement to either start recycling or to recycle more.

It will be officially launched at community recycling events in Maldon and Heybridge, where residents can find out more about recycling services and take part in games and activities.

Children and adults alike can listen to Recycler the rapping robot who encourages people to reduce, reuse and recycle.

They can also power a radio or light bulb with Re-Cycle the Energy Bike to see how much energy is saved through recycling.

The events will take place on Friday October 31 from 9am to 12pm at Maldon Town Council Offices in Market Hill, Maldon, and on Saturday November 1 from 2- 5pm at Plantation Hall in Colchester Road, Heybridge.

Councillor Brenda Keighley, chairman of the council’s community services committee said: “These recycling events will be an excellent opportunity for residents to obtain information about recycling and take part in interactive activities.”
