ESSEX FM DJs Martin Day and Su Harrison have returned to their breakfast slot amid speculation that their "suspension" was a publicity stunt.
The breakfast DJs were back on in their usual slot.
Meanwhile, the station's programme director has denied taking the DJs off-air was a publicity stunt.
Chris Cotton refuted the suggestion made by some listeners that their removal had been a publicity stunt.
He also denied their show had been pulled after comments made about scouts and condoms, but would not reveal the issue that led to the show being off air for three days.
Mr Cotton said: "We have managed to resolve the issue and Martin and Su will be back on the air tomorrow. It was the outcome we'd hoped for so it is a good outcome for us."

I never got to hear the show, but Martin and Su always bring a smile to my face during the morning. I love their tongue in cheek sense of humour! I bet some boring old **** with nothing better to do has made a complaint over a comment on air. If this is the case then I suggest in future he / she tunes into Radio 4 in the future. Always the minority that spoils it for the majority. Im sure im not the only one that is right behind you Martin and Su, if your not back on air soon im sure im not the only listner that will boycott Essex FM. Bring back Martin and Su. I am completely discussed that they have taken matin and su off air. As one of the other comments said i also listen to all of the program on friday and did not find one comment afencive or out off order. I can't beleive that Essex FM would take to fantasic presentrer off air, the radio station as always encouaged Martin and Su to have their own views on things and thats why the listens love them. I think everything in this county is getting far to political corrected. We all have a right to say what we want, if you dont like what they say turn the station over thats what the channel changer is for. Like i said i can't even start to think what someone/some people have complained about both Martin and Su are excellent at their job and i am 100% sure that if Essex FM do not re instate them another radio channel will pick them up and i can garentte you that will be the station a will listen to in the mornings

Remember......it's half term, they both have kids, Martin was on air yesterday (Sunday) as normal....if he'd done anything that bad on Friday he would have been down the road then!

Some say that they do such things in humour but we no not find the same things funny .... via the Internet the broadcast is worldwide. I am sorry Southend Radio fans but in a car on the A12 (yes thats the north of Essex where Essex FM reception is dire and no girl admits to being an Essex girl)so therefore it is either Radio 1 or Ray on BBC Essex.
Given Martins (rather than Sues) dispicable attitude no member of my family (ages 54, 50, 21, 19) now listen to them - the old crusties I can understand but the kids, well say no more. I happen to think that sex education at the age of 5 is TOO young, i think children should be allowed to be children, but we are digressing.
Martin and Su have a social responsibility and making lewd comments about a long standing activity is WRONG. I am sick to death of their derogatory humour at the expense of some of their listeners, I actually dont wake up to their show any more as it got beyond a joke. I have a sense of humour i love a laugh, but NOT at the expense of others.

One of the reasons it is better in the morning than Essex FM is because they are not there.
Martin and Su were funny in the beginning but their stupid act has run its course. They are possibly the most predictable and boring radio presenters going. They follow the same boring format every day.
If this is not a publicity stunt then I hope this will bring them back to earth with a fairly big bump and they will realise they are not so fantastic.

I have just been reading that Essex FM is going to rebrand as Heart FM next year, and that is why only a handful of shows are now actaully broadcast from Essex. Martin & Su is one of them. This is probably why Martin & Su are not there - the station is trying to kick them out because they don't fit in with the whole boring image of Heart. Maybe Martin & Su should join an actual local station like Southend Radio, where everything is broadcast locally.

As for the Heart FM thing, that is correct, but Hearts parent company, Global, have a license which compels them to 10hours a day of local output.
This could also be a stunt as globals stations have done this kind of thing before.

There are far, far more important issues to worry about than a couple of off-the-cuff remarks!
If you don't like Martin and Su it's simple, DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!!
M&S may sometimes seems a bit abrasive but they have also done a lot of good with their Kid's Charity and, if they do go, others less fortunate than the rest of us could well lose out.

the days of true local radio and independent regional TV broadcasting in this country ended when the 1990 Broadcasting Act was introduced. This Act totally slaughtered Independent Local Radio run by the IBA and standards in presentation also fell by the wayside gradually over the years once the IBA was replaced by the Radio Authority and now by the half-baked OFCOM regulating station outputs and ownership, leaving us with bland, presenters and corporate radio stations that hire and fire manufactured sounding presenters like Martin and Su. Sorry, but Martin and Su can never match the excellence of broadcasting greats such as John Leech, Tony Munson and other great Essex Radio presenters of the past such as Terry Davis and Dave Gregory, now those guys had real style and didn't resort to the on-air fake banter that Martin and Su present, with their false laughter and dull pointless on-air competitions etc.. Need I say more, no I don't think so. But anyone who loves radio like myself must be rejoicing that Martin and Su are not on Essex FM at the moment and hopfully won't be in the foreseeable future. :-) Let's hope that Sothend Radio continue to be a good local station and keep presenting a happy and informative sound without the much hyped Martin and Su that Essex FM have, or should I say had.

I don't listen to Martin & Sue however their style is well known and Boy Scouts have been fair game (for poking fun) for many years.
Essex FM should stop wasting their listeners time, reinstate the show as was and when it comes to getting rid of the local DJ's do it in a proper and professional manner i.e. with regard to employment laws!

We always had a sense of humour and any adverse comments were laughed at.
I am sure the humour has not really changed over the 50 years with the majority of boys directly however there was always a minority that had real serious bible bashing parents that never had a sense of humour and I suppose now days we bend over backwards(or perhaps forwards) to be politically correct.
Essex FM morning show is a 'Show' not to be taken seriously.

I listened to the show Friday as I do everyday on my journey to work. I was not offended, yes they sail close to the mark with innuendo but thats just them, get over yourselves and look at your listening figures, they would not be on air for 5 hours every day and each on their other shows at the weekend, if you didnt value them as presenters.
I have heard this is a publicity hoax.. now that would be outrageous and something to shout about...
lets get back to normal please, Martin and Su in the mornings and AJ and Dom in the afternoon fly a very big flag for Essex Fm at prie times.

I will admit that I thought that what was said was a little risque but only because I thought that there would be a reaction. There are a few posts which relate to their behaviour and style of presenting generally, well if you dont listen to their show how would you know? or presumably you have based your opinion on the last few occassions that you tuned in, if thats the case you've obviously moved on so stop holding on to the past.
I didn't listen to the complete show since the signal became fuzzy, but I don't actually remember Su actually saying anything that could be deemed as offensive unless criticizing the grammer of the scouting movements statement, since it made no sense, counts.
Peoples broadcast tastes take many forms so for those people that don't like their show don't tune in, simple. Unfortunately that just leaves the people that like nothing better than to complain and deliberately look for situations to be able to keep themselves busy.
Oh and finally dib dib dib dob dob dob is a CUB ditty not Scouts so I do not think the scouts are the ones that should be offended.

There are so many stations now with different styles of presenting, i can't believe those people who don't like Martin and Su are creating such a fuss - it's simple, listen to another station - you are saying that you are glad Martin and Su have gone, but we don't want another Southend Radio - why should everyone else be penalised because the minority don't like them.

Martin made the comment 'dib dib dob dob don't forget to roll one on your..." but didn't follow though with th joke.
The presenters then asked for people to email/text their puns for the story and the winner will have their's used in the Essex Enquirer, as do each week as Martin & Su have a weekly columun.
Some of the puns readers come up with were "Scouting For Girls" and "Stick their woggle in their toggle etc.
I must admit I did listen to the whole show and found nothing lewd, I actually couldn't stop laughing.
The comments made on the show have nothing to do with Paedophiles or paedophilia more just their sense of humour.
Yes I agree that their sense of humour is an aquired taste but hey that is what we a knob on the radio for!
I listen to their show every morning driving into London as they have a very good traffic and travel section but more importantly I need something light hearted of a morning and hate it when the reception goes.
The last two days haven't been the same as the presenters do not have the same chemistry as Martin & Su.
Considering the comments and actions of Brand & Ross this just smacks of political correctness gone mad!
I personally hope that they are back on air pretty soon. Like them or loathe them they do a lot of charity work and constantly fly the flag for Essex.

They were discussing scout groups teaching sex education, a comment was made which may to some have been a bit close to the mark but it was not offensive to any person or group. It was a joke and I am sure that anyone that hasn't had a sense of humour bypass would have understood that.
Like I say, if you knew what had actually been said then you wouldnt have much to back up your comments. No one was insulted and it was not at the expense of any listeners. No one has died, no one is scared for life so what is the problem here?! In the current times of doom and gloom in every paper and news channel each morning, its actually nice to listen to something other than this. Bring them back! And anyone that doesn't like them - go listen to BBC Radio 4 where you wont have to worry about humour of any kind.

i missed fridays show for one reason, basically i detest the way they insult some "not so clever" listeners that dont quite know all the answers to their £1000 per minute quiz. I have actually missed all thier shows since the airing several months ago of some poor unfortunate who entered their competition, didnt do that well and was also planning on emmigrating to australia, they were very rude and derogatory to the poor gentleman and prior to that had altered the rules of that comp to save themselves some money. the day b4 a listener changed his mind on a question and su said "what a shame you changed your answer as the first one was correct" The very next day another listener changed their mind from a wrong answer to the correct one, and su then said "sorry i have to take your first answer" erm make up your mind su, you either take first answer or you dont, you dont change the rules to suit yourselves.
I havent listened since. I agree Southend Radio is much better and i enjoy Mikey
As for Su changing the rules, well I don't think she did that on purpose. You have to take into consideration that she's from Leicester ;-)

DJs/people can be funny without being lewd, rude, arrogant, insulting and obscene.
I just feel that as they are in the public eye (or ear, in their case) they should show some decorum and a reasonable level of respect. Just recently, they dont appear to know what respect is, much less show it. I just dont happen to find taking the mickey out of a listener for not being ultra intelligent, that funny.
There are plenty of comedians and DJ's out there that can be funny without the insults etc. And that doesnt mean those of us that have objected or find them unfunny have had a humour transplant, its just that we dont find their offensive humour funny.

I listen to them every morning and they make me laugh with their banter!
They should be reinstated back to their early morning slot asap - otherwise the pair of them might just think b*llocks to EssexFM and not want to return themselves! I just think it's pathetic over what they have been banned for - and I do believe that what they read out were listeners text messages!
They haven't done anything as bad as those idiots Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross - who get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds - yet the BBC seems to be unforgiving to them!
The world is going crazy - and for those of you that don't like them - well don't listen to them - easy as that really!

Sorry guys, in this sad corporate world of ours radio presenters are the advertisers tool, and what the radio advertisers and programme controlers want now happens. The days of psuedo outspoken "Zoo Format" presenters like Martin and Su are over on second rate stations like Essex FM. Except of course if they were talented in the first place, then they would have been snapped up by a bigger more listened to radio station like BBC Radio 2 or BBC radio 6. Radio these days is a very competitive thing and a station can live or fail by it's Breakfast and Evening Drivetime slots, if the presenters are not doing what is expected of them by the station bosses then out they jolly well go, despite all the protesting by the public. I for one hope that Martin and Su never return to a radio station anywhere here in the East of England, so that we don't have to hear their rather crass sounding shows any more. Maybe they could use their redundancy pay and set up a Martin and Su community FM radio station broadcasting from the Shetland Islands or somewhere equally remote. P.S: I am also not a boring person and yes I do have a sense of humour... I'm not a BBC Radio 4 listener, and I have been and still am involved in radio broadcasting for just over 35 years now.
When I'm on my train up to the City and getting into professional mode it is then I tune into R4 and get the low down on what's happening in the world and get an idea of what I'll be walking into when I get to the office.
My view is that M & S are a fun show and as such neither Martin or Su have any pretentious ideas above that. Basically it's like reading The Sun before picking up a copy of The Times.
Horses for courses Radio Searock and Martin and Su are popular within the county and fill the requirements of many Essex FM listeners...

For this reason I listen to Martin and Su every morning, and Martin every Sunday. However at other times, I do like the variety of music on Southend fm.

I bet some boring old **** with nothing better to do has made a complaint over a comment on air. If this is the case then I suggest in future he / she tunes into Radio 4 in the future.
Always the minority that spoils it for the majority.
Im sure im not the only one that is right behind you Martin and Su, if your not back on air soon im sure im not the only listner that will boycott Essex FM.
Bring back Martin and Su.
