A LOG-burner has set a fireplace alight at a home in Chalkwell.
Firefighters were called to Galton Road at just after 9.30am this morning.
Heat from the burner set firelighters alight, which then spread to the hearth and a pile of logs.
A crew from Leigh and Southend tackled the blaze.
Leading firefighter Chris Seal, from Leigh fire station, said: "We believe that heat radiated from the log burner and set firelighters alight, which then set fire to some logs waiting to be burned.
"We were there pretty quick so the fire didn't spread. There was a little bit of smoke damage."
Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
