THESE two sides fought out a six-goal thriller in which honours were shared at Burroughs Park.
There was little sign of the goal rush to come until the visiting outfit’s Michael Bakare shot Leyton into a 24th-minute lead.
Mark Cartlidge and Kevin Cole both went close to equalising before defender Lewis Sparrow levelled with a 35th-minute header.
Cartlidge put Wakering ahead for the first time on 55 minutes, heading home from a corner.
But Rovers suffered a 64th minute blow when Jack O’Connor, just back from suspension, was sent off.
Three minutes later Robert Carter put Leyton on terms, but the village hosts again held the upper hand when substitute Joel Ettienne-Clark made it 3-2 with a 79th-minute tap-in.
But the thrilling action was not yet over and the visitors made certain of a share of the spoils when Phil Kane tucked the ball home five minutes from time.
Wakering, 13th in the table, continue their quest for a top half placing tomorrow when they host Thamesmead Town.
