A CYCLIST was injured in a crash in Rayleigh this morning.

The 40-year-old man was taken to hospital following a smash at the junction of Uplands Park Road and Hockley Road.

A red Kia Picanto collided with a black mountain bike at about 7.45am and the road had to be closed for four hours.

The driver, an 88-year-old man from Rayleigh, was uninjured.

The cyclist is in a serious but stable condition at Southend Hospital.
