Firms' touch of magic for Jade's day

TWO south Essex firms played a part in cancer sufferer Jade Goody’s emotional wedding to Jack Tweed.

Catering company Chocolate Fools provided a tasty treat, while Partyman Company entertained at the pair’s glitzy reception.

Both businesses were invited to the reception after offering their services free of charge when the couple organised their wedding at Down Hall, Herts, at the last minute.

Partyman World of Play, based in Repton Close, Basildon, supplied popular entertainer James Sinclair, also known as Jimbo.

He spent the evening keeping all the children – including Jade’s sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four – spellbound with his tricks.

Jimbo, who owns the company, said: “Jade’s sons loved the show and thoroughly enjoyed being dressed head to toe in balloons and spending hours of fun on the giant inflatables, fun slides and bouncy castles. It was an honour for the Partyman Company to be a part of Jade’s special day.

“It is incredibly sad for her and her family, but for one day everyone was there to have a wonderful time, and that is all you can wish for.”

Jade, 27, who has been told she may only have weeks to live, has announced she will be arranging a christening for her sons as soon as possible.

Jimbo has offered her mum, Jackey Budden, the use of his new play centre, set to open on March 6 at Lakeside, for Bobby, Freddie and all their friends to use for free.

Theresa Smith, 39, co-owner of Chocolate Fools, was also at the couple’s reception.

Theresa set up Chocolate Fools, based in Church End Lane, Wickford, a year ago.

She explained “I e-mailed Jack Tweed before the wedding to ask if we could help by supplying them with a chocolate fountain and then Jade’s bridesmaid got in touch with us and it went from there.

“We set up the fountain at the reception and were there for the night. It was very emotional, but there were also a lot of laughs.”

Doctors said they didn’t think Jade would stay much past 4pm, but she carried on until midnight.

She added: “It was lovely to watch while she was on the stage dancing to the Suga Babes and having a good time, though it’s obvious she was in a lot of pain. She really did look beautiful.”

I'm getting rather sick and tired of hearing about her.

There are two issues here.

That fact that someone is dying of a horrible illness, is without question not something any of us would want to go through, although I'm sure we all know of at least one person who has suffered a similar fate. Our thoughts go out to her children.

On the other side, does having a terminal illness suddenly make you a lovely wonderful person ? I think not !

At last! A like minded person; dignity has never been this womans strong suit.

well as long as you both agree with each other you must be right
she is a young mum who wants to get as much money for her children as she can and good luck to her
lets hope nothing as awful happens to someone in your families

'lets hope nothing as awful happens to someone in your families'.
If it does I can assure you it would not be (even if 'famous') turned into the three ringed media circus that rams this story down your throat at every opportunity.

Whislt I feel very bad for Jade and her family - her case is not a unique case at all.

Everyday people are dying of cancer but I do not know what Jade has given to be treated like royalty.

Last I heard is she will have the equivalent of a State funeral.

Bit odd all this hero worship for someone who was on a reality tv show.

I have never been a 'fan' of Jade and have not followed her antics in newspapers, magazines or TV. I suspect that if I were to meet her, I probably wouldn't even like her. However, when I heard she is so terribly ill, I felt hugely compassionate toward her, as I would toward anyone in her situation.
However, I do respect her business sense. She has used the media to make lots of money ever since her first Big Brother appearance. She is not a hypocrite; she knows what she is doing (as does everyone else) and she makes no apology. Good luck to her. I choose not to buy the magazines or papers so am not 'paying' for her lifestyle, but there are plenty who do. Good luck to them. It's a personal choice for each and every one of us.
However, I do think it's a blessing that this media circus is highlighting the seriousness of what can happen if you ignore health warnings. And most importantly, this coverage is reaching those people who might be like Jade, and who might put off important tests or test results. Maybe, just maybe, lives may be saved and some good may come from this very sad situation. And for that reason, I personally don't begrudge any of the publicity surrounding Jade right now.

Amen to that. All i want to add is that if i had weeks to live and the ability to secure a bright future for my 2 children i would without question whatever it took (leighman). I think you all would too...

I wonder if Max Clifford, her publicity agent, will donate his time and services for 'FREE' or will he be sending an invoice at some stage. he, of all people could easily afford to 'waive' his fee in this instance.

Hmm. This makes for an uncomfortable but thought provoking debate.

Jade sells papers because the public by them and are interested in this type of story, hence the coverage - simple as. I'm one of them. I buy a daily "rag" and as a result help publicise the type of stories that are featured in there. There is a simple answer - if you dont want to read about Jade, then dont. Dont by a paper and turn over the tv.

Aside from all this is the main issue. A young woman is going to be dead shortly, and she leaves behind 2 small children who may remember their mother but who will grow up without her with them. She will not be physically present at any great milestone in their life. Their teenage years, their first job. Their first love. Their first break up. Their wedding day (?) Children? ..the list is endless.

And she has to spend her last few weeks/months knowing that and having to say goodbye to them. What a bloody terrible thing to have to contemplate - there will be a time when she has to watch those children leave her hospital room for the last time, as I imagine they wont really be told the full facts of what is happening. That alone, is an image that would devastate me, should I ever be in that unfortunate position.

Whether you like her or not is irrelevant, and so is how she acheived fame, how intelligent she is and what she stands for or has acheived. These insensitive, provoking and cruel comments that we have seen on this board and all over the net are plain wrong. This is a young woman whose life is being taken away and people should act with dignity and show some respect.

I have never been a fan of hers, but I know that thoughtless and tasteless comments about her do not help anybody. Individuals may choose to give their suppprt or not, to whoever they wish too - that is your right. You also dont need to like her or agree with her motives or publicity drive.

However, just for once, just be the bigger person and either stay quiet, or wish her good luck with whatever journey she is about to go on. No wonder the world is becoming increasingly worse with the vindictive, negative and agressive veiws posted on here by a few unintelligent and ignorant individuals. The same people who comment on every topic going, not because of adding any value but because they think they are being clever by saying something contentious with the hope of getting noticed.

I'm 100% in favour and support free speech and peoples right to speak, but sometimes, just have enough decency and self awareness to keep it shut.

it seems that some people are forgetting that although Jade has invited alot of press attention, her tv show, ok magazine for her wedding, the news of the world to reveal her bald head, she hasn't asked for local and national papers to continue writing stories about her and constantly mention she's dying.
The papers has picked up on the fact that Jades story will sell papers and thats why you are constantly hearing about her.

I think she would be more upset if the media were paying no attention to her at all ?

Once you are in the limelight, you can't pick and choose what gets published.

As I said in my opening post, you have to separate the two issues, the illness and the person.

The former we all have sympathy with, as we all no someone who has suffered, or is suffering in a similar way.

As for the person, blame Big Brother for making a "celebrity" out of someone who isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. It could be argued that what they did was rather cruel towards her. Despite the money she has since made from it.

Jack doesn't love Jade and would never have married her if she wasn't getting a million quid for the wedding. I don't give it more than a couple of months.

It would be nice if she donated some of the money being paid by the tabloid press to the Cancer Charities.
