Passenger injured after car overturns on A130

A PASSENGER was flown to hospital by air ambulance following a crash in which a car overturned.

The accident took place just after 2.30pm today off the A130 on the slip road to Rettendon.

Firefighters from Chelmsford and Baddow cut the man free from the car, which had flipped onto its roof.

Ambulance spokeswoman Joy Hale said the passenger appeared to have suffered an injury to his left side.

She said both sides of the A130 were closed as the Essex Air Ambulance landed.

I was on the A130 at the time of this crash and witnessed it up close -I was on the sliproad heading towards the turnpike when suddenly and apparently from nowhere, the car was rolling over and over towards me, shedding parts as it went and making the most horrendous noise. It was shockingly quick and violent, and I was convinced that no-one would walk away from it. I'm just relieved to hear there were no lives lost, and have immense sympathy for those involved.

I was also caught up in this, and while I did not witness the accident itself place,I did see the aftermath, which looked pretty horrendus. Like Derrickstott I too was convinced nobody would walk away from it,from the firemen cutting them free to the helicopter, the whole thing looked awful.
Hope the people involved recover well and that those who did witness it are ok x

We ALL make mistakes. This is what the police said to me when they arrived yesterday afternoon to tell my mother and I that my brother had been involved in a serious car crash and is in a critical condition.
I think that it is terrible that people who weren't involved and didn't witness the incident can judge and say such awful things about someone who is critical in hospital. It is completely unfair to say that he is an idiot and assume the reasons for him crashing are because he was doing something wrong. He was tested for drink and drugs and was found completely sober. There is no blame involved.
So please, I ask you, have your say, but you can't call my brother an idiot because you don't know anything about it.

I stand by my first comment - cars don't crash by themselves!!!

That's a ridiculous statement to make. Cars also don't drive themselves and people don't have accidents on purpose. What's it to do with you anyway? You are talking about my brother. Show some respect. You're entitled to your opinion. But I'm asking you to stop being so nasty when it means nothing to you. My brother nearly died for god sake. Where's your humanity?

Irrespective of fault, (and everybody walking this earth has made a mistake sometime in their life), would the bigots and self righteous amongst the correspondents please spare a thought for the family and friends of this young man, who must be finding the ill-informed comments on this news story very hurtful at what is a very difficult time for them. Leave the investigations to the police - they are the ones best qualified to reach a conclusion - once their very thorough investigations are complete

Shiwar - you are correct. I do not have any points on my licence because I obey speed limits, don't park where I shouldn't and pay what is required for parking. I also hold 2 advanced driving qualifications, wouldn't be seen dead on a bicycle and don't walk in the road. Simples!

Sorry, I do have to say this - Perini, you are a dull, ordinary, spiteful knowall. Simples!
