Pair left heartbroken by loss of two ponies

A HEARTBROKEN woman is appealing for help in tracing her two beloved ponies which were stolen from a paddock.

Lorraine Brown, 48, was devastated to find the colt and mare missing from their enclosure off Daws Heath Road, in Hadleigh.

She is particularly upset because she had saved the colt – a New Forest pony called Temptation – after rescuing him in a terrible state.

“When I took him in I didn’t think he was going to last the night,” she said.

“He was very ill. I wrapped him up in straw and gave him some medicine, and we brought him back from death’s door and built him up. He’s a lovely, friendly little pony and I’m just gutted that he’s gone.”

Temptation was stolen along with a mare called Tinkerbell – a mini Shetland pony who is only a little larger than a labrador dog.

Tinkerbell actually belongs to Lorraine’s father, Ken Brown, 76.

Lorraine, who lives in Canvey, said: “My dad has been trawling all around the woods up there in search of the horses. He’s very upset.”

The animals were stolen between 5pm on Thursday, July 2, and 7.30am the following day. Tinkerbell is a chestnut pony with a flaxen mane and tail and has an unusual square star on her head.

Temptation has not been gelded, so a vet may notice him if he is brought in for the operation.

He is a grey roan with a black mane. He has black legs with a white blaze going right up his face. He has white marks on the heels of his hind legs.

Anyone with information is asked to call Benfleet police on 0300 3334444.

How can people do that? b#stards. You bond with animals just like you do humans. Feel very sorry for this lady and her father.

Some people are just evil and rotten but what goes round comes round as they say. Really hope they find the horses but would check out Dale Farm and Hovefields as stolen horses have been known to appear there.
