8:50am Monday 20th July 2009

BRITAIN’S Got Talent winners Diversity will perform at this year’s Thurrock Festival.

The Essex street-dance troupe, which includes Gable Hall pupil Perri Kiely, 14, and Wickford brothers Ashley and Jordan Banjo, are set to headline proceedings.

The free festival, now in its second year, will take place at Grays Beach on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday will see X Factor finalists Alisha Bennet and Daniel Evans performing, as well as Thurrock Hidden Talent finalists and DJs, Dwane Lamonte, Devils Gun, Freaky Disco, plus special PA Deeism and Mr C, as well as Diversity.

The performers lined up for Sunday are X Factor finalists Same Difference, Britain’s Got Talent’s Signature, Kele-le-Roc, Quddos Dance, plus special PA Janet Kay and Norman J Club Set.

Councillor Barry Johnson, chairman of Thurrock Festival, said: “This is the second year of the festival and it is going to be bigger, with much more to do.

“There is something for everyone in the community and nobody will feel left out.”

There will also be a funfair, international food court, dance lessons, face-painting, Punch and Judy show, kids variety show, comedy sessions, Fame show and street art available on both days.

Carl Morris, a councillor for Grays Riverside, said: “A lot of hard work has gone into planning this year’s event.

“It promises to be the perfect fun day out for all the family. The best part is that it’s free.

“We’re hoping for some big names to come along and make this weekend really special. It’s going to be a showcase for everything good in Thurrock and I want to see a big turnout.”
