AN award-winning hairdresser who launched a pioneering men’s salon in Billericay, has been asked to make his luxury styling concept national.
Jim Shaw, 44, who was British Men’s Hairdresser of the Year in 2008, offers customers at Essensuals Men, in the High Street, a manicure while they sip beer and watch sport on TV, or even a wet shave or a shoe shine.
The stylist, who lives in Norsey Road, Billericay, said: “I saw a gap in the market for male grooming.
“I wanted to create a modern and relaxed environment for the man who is style conscious and looking for more than a quick trim, because we know it is not only women who like to be pampered.”
The success of the concept now looks like going national with Tony & Guy, who own the Essensuals brand, expanding to 12 other locations across the country.
Jim is also representing Britain in another competition, men’s hairdresser of the year at the World Hair Awards. The final is being held in Paris in September.
