Facebook tributes paid to ‘wonderful’ Angus

TRIBUTES are flooding into a Facebook group set up in memory of schoolboy Angus Hardie, who died suddenly following a fall.

The ten-year-old from Braemerton Road, Hockley, died at Great Ormond Street Hospital, on October 6, following a fall, but the cause of death is still unclear.

St Pancras Coroner’s Court yesterday confirmed an inquest would open tomorrow, when a date for a hearing will be set.

Ian Barton, headteacher of Plumberow Primary School in Hockley, where Angus was a model pupil, said his twin brother Ewan had now returned to lessons and was being supported by staff and fellow pupils.

Mr Barton said: “We still don’t know what happened and Angus’s parents still don’t know, so it is difficult for them, but his brother is back at school now.

“As soon as we hear anything new the school will issue a further statement.”

Mr Barton earlier described Angus as a “wonderful Year 6 pupil” who was “liked immensely”.

The Facebook tributes bear testimony to that.

Helen Campling said: “Your son was incredibly kind to my little girl at a time when she needed a friend. She is devastated by Angus’s death.

“As a mum myself, I cannot imagine a tenth of the sadness you must feel, but I just wanted to tell you we are so grateful to you for raising such a beautiful kind child. There is no justice in this world.”

Angie Lacey left a message to Angus’s grieving parents Robert and Donna, Ewan and 14-year-old brother Glen. She said: “We are all so so sorry to hear about Angus and are deeply saddened by your loss. I remember seeing Angus during the summer holidays on a day out with you at Tropical Wings with that lovely cheeky smile of his.

“I will always remember that. All our heartfelt thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time.”
