Exchange sports ideas

REPRESENTATIVES from sports groups across the district are invited to attend a sports conference.

The annual Sports Twinning Conference will be held at the Northlands Centre, off Felmores End, Basildon.

Representatives from twin towns Meaux, in France, and Heiligenhaus, in Germany, will be attending the event and all local clubs and teams are invited to go along.

The aim of the conference is to encourage communication between clubs, and to promote the exchange of sporting fixtures and events between Basildon and the twin towns.

The towns are keen to invite teams to compete in competitions and gain the experience of playing sport abroad.

Kevin Blake, Basildon Council’s councillor responsible for leisure and arts, said: “The sports conference is a great opportunity for representatives from clubs and teams across the district to come together to meet and share ideas with each other, and our visitors from Heiligenhaus and Meaux.

“We hope this will be an ideal opportunity to arrange some international fixtures between clubs.”

To book your sports club a place at the conference, which will start at 3pm, on Saturday, November 14, call Wayne Davies at Basildon Council on 01268 465444.
