A PENSIONER had his mobility scooter stolen while he was in hospital receiving treatment after being run over.

The 74-year-old man was forced to leave the motorised scooter by the roadside in Lodge Lane, Grays, after he was involved in a collision with a car. However, when he returned, after receiving treatment for cuts, bruises and a fracture to his foot, it was gone.

PC Stephen Mugridge, from Orsett, said: “I am disgusted someone would steal an item after the victim had already had a traumatising event.

“It is obviously not normal to see an unattended scooter and whoever removed it should have contacted police or taken it to a local station.

“I am hoping if it was taken shortly after the accident, that someone may remember something suspicious.”

The scooter was taken sometime between Thursday, October 8, and Saturday, October 10.
