A MAN who stole a £7 pack of beers, after changing the price tag to just 14p, has been fined.
Michael Cagehin, 23, walked into Asda at Basildon’s Eastgate Centre and picked up a pack of Stella Artois lager. He took it to the “reduced items” section where he found a 14p price label and stuck it on the beers.
Cagehin then took the alcohol to the self-scan till on November 4. He was caught by store security guards when he returned later the same day.
Cagehin, of Glenmere, Basildon, admitted stealing when he appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court yesterday. He must pay a £67 fine, £7 compensation, £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
