A FORMER eco-warrior and peace campaigner who turned over a new leaf by changing his name has made the top 20 list of weirdest monikers in 2009.

General Ninja Ant, 42, changed his name to Camo u Flage in October after he renounced his campaigning activities to settle down with wife Xena Warrior Princess and son Pixie Dan, six.

The name change is the fourth Mr Flage has made, and the switch made number 17 in the top 20 of unusual 2009 name changes compiled by the UK Deed Poll Service.

Mr Flage, of Norwich Avenue, Southend, said: “I spent eight years campaigning, had a gun put to my head and 27 charges brought against me. But now I’ve decided to give all that up and so I decided to change my name again.

“I’m not eccentric because I’m not rich, and I’m not crazy because I’m not poor, I’m somewhere in between and I am happy with that.”

His new name reflects his enthusiasm for all things military. Mr Flage was originally called Anthony Bailey, which he changed to The Ant in 2005 after he became a campaigner at the now closed Camp Bling in Priory Crescent.

He then changed again and was known as the Ninja Ant, before amending that to become General Ninja Ant in 2008.

Taking the top spot in the listing was Mitch Prince, a 25-year-old boxer from Cumbernauld who will now be known as Prince of Passion.

Also making the top 20 was 30-year-old Kellyanne Scott, who presents the breakfast show on Real Radio in Newcastle.

She changed her name to Vote Joe in support of this year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry, as did the teen’s mum and grandma.

Other examples are Michael Bevan, 52, from Newquay, who changed his name to Happy Days Goldfinder in honour of his happy outlook on life and his panning for gold.
