New service to help people back to work

4:50am Tuesday 9th February 2010

A NEW advice service for unemployed people in Southend has begun.

The Skills for Jobs service will hold sessions for people on Friday mornings at the Southend Association of Voluntary Services, in Alexandra Street, Southend.

The service is funded by the Learning and Skills Council, financed by the European Social Fund and brings together a range of expertise, training and information.

Ian Bysouth, 48, from Southend, will be dishing out the advice to people aged over 19.

Mr Bysouth, who has run his own consulting firm for six years, said: “This is designed to help people get back into work. It’s suitable for anyone made redundant, unemployed for a while or even a mum who wants to get back to work.

“If anyone has an idea for a business and doesn’t know where to start, or needs some help a bit further down the line, then we can help.”

Contact Mr Bysouth on 01702 667868 to find out whether you are eligible for the Skills For Jobs programme, which will run until the end of December.
