Updated: Man arrested after student attacked outside Southend college

A MAN has been arrested after a student was attacked outside South Essex College in Southend.

The 17-year-old victim was seen lying in Elmer Approach, between the college and the Essex University building, surrounded by fellow students yesterday afternoon. He had suffered a head injury and was transferred last night from Southend General Hospital to Queens Hospital, Romford. His condition today was described as stable.

A 16-year-old Southend boy has now been arrested on suspicion of grevious bodily harm and is being questioned by detectives today. Anyone with information should call police on 0300 333 4444.
