FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a home in Hockley.
The blaze started in the kitchen of the bungalow in Hillcrest Road and crews from Hawkwell and Rayleigh Weir attended the call at 7.25am today.
The elderly resident managed to escape the house before crews arrived.
Firefighter spent 40 minutes putting out the blaze, which started when a tea towel was left on the hob and caught alight.
