A TEENAGER was punched in the face as he was enjoying a night out in Southend.

The 18-year-old man was eating at Nando’s restaurant in London Road, Southend, with his girlfriend just before 6:30pm on Saturday.

Three men at a nearby table began slinging insults at him before one of them approached him and punched him in the face. They then ran out the restaurant and down London Road. The victim was left with a cut on his nose.

The suspect is described as a white man approximately 6ft 1ins tall and of slim build, believed to be in his early twenties. He had short, cropped blonde hair and was wearing a dark tracksuit top. He had striking light blue eyes that were very distinctive, the pupils of which were very small.

The first of the two other males accompanying him is described as a white man, at least 6ft 2ins, of very slim build and in his early twenties. He was wearing brown tinted sunglasses, balanced on the top of his head.

The other man was described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build, also in his early twenties. He was overweight and had very short shaved hair. He was wearing a light tan coloured jacket.

Pc Neil Monk is investigating the assault and said: “If you witnessed this incident or recognise the suspect and his friends through the distinctive descriptions, I’d be very interested to hear from you.”
