Car set alight in suspected arson attack

A CAR was set alight in a suspected arson attack.

The blaze started in a Citroen Saxo and spread to a Ford Fiesta which was parked outside a block of flats it in Woodstock Crescent, Laindon.

Both the cars were gutted by the fire which started at about 4.30am on Saturday (March 13).

A fire crew from Basildon was called and spent about 45 minutes tackling the fire.

Sub officer Bryan Mansfield, from Basildon Fire Station, said: “Our crews used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and stop it spreading to nearby flats.”

He added: It s being treated as suspicious and there will be a police investigation.”
