FIREFIGHTERS carried a dog to safety after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a Benfleet home.
The Jack Russell was rescued from the house in Chapel Lane after the fire broke out in a faulty dishwasher at around 11.25am this morning, Tuesday, March 16.
The fire was extinguished by 11.50am but left the kitchen gutted and the rest of the house smokelogged.
