PLANS for a world-class performing arts academy have moved a step closer after the Government announced £13million of funding.
The National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills will be built in the 14-acre Royal Opera House Production Park, in Purfleet.
The complex is set to become the flagship training centre for performing arts and technical backstage skills in the country.
Government Thames Gateway Minister Shahid Malik, who visited the site earlier this week, announced the extra money from the Homes and Communities Agency yesterday.
