New signs flag up Cliff Lift

VISITORS to Southend seafront can take a break on their way back into town thanks to new signs highlighting the cliff lift.
Southend Council has erected the signs to show people how to get to the lift, off Pier Hill, providing a quick and easy link between the seafront and the High Street.

Is the lift actually working though or are the signs just to direct people to a non working lift?
