Robbery in alleyway near Primary School

A MIDDLE-AGED man was knocked unconscious in an alleyway before his wallet was emptied.

The 43-year-old man had been walking along the alleyway near to Bournemouth Park Primary School at mid-morning.

He was struck from behind and fell to the floor where he lost consciousness.

When he came to, his wallet had been discarded on the floor and £130 cash was missing. He was left with a cut to the back of his head and had lost a tooth.

PC Steven Needham, of Southend police, said: “As he was hit from behind, the victim of this robbery was unable to provide a description of the suspects.

"This happened in broad daylight just off a very busy road so I’d ask people to think back and let us know if they saw anything suspicious in this area around this time.”

Police want to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious near the alleway which leads from Bournemouth Park Road to Dryden Avenue at about 10:30am on Tuesday March 16.
