TWO historic ships will be visiting Southend again this summer.
The newly-restored Waverley and Balmoral ships will drop anchor at Southend Pier from July to October.
Daytrippers can take a wide range of cruises, with destinations including Clacton, Whitstable and Southwold.
There will also be a chance to sail up the Thames through the Thames Flood Barrier to see the Greenwich waterfront, Millennium Dome, Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge.
The Balmoral sails from July 21 until August 5 and the paddle steamer, the Waverley, sails from September 25 until October 9. Bookings made before April 16 will be at last year’s prices.
Waverley captain Andy O’Brian, said: “There is no better way to spend the day than relaxing on deck and watching the scenery.
“There is a trip for everyone to enjoy – whether it’s a leisurely cruise or trip to the seaside or the chance to view parts of our unique coastline from a different perspective.
“The ships really tell a story about how past generations enjoyed their leisure time.”

Best attraction a pier can offer along with square riggers and barges.
That's what brings the punters in. Not sure if they've yet grasped that basic fact in The Civic Centre.
