FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a pigeon in distress in Southend High Street.
The fire crews were called just before 5pm on Friday, after reports that the pigeon had become caught in some netting at the Odeon cinema and was distressed.
A fire officer visited the distressed bird but then called for the special aerial ladder platform to aid the beleaguered bird. It was freed just after 6pm.
