Cyclist injured in hit and run in Thorpe Bay

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car failed to stop after colliding with a cyclist.

The incident happened at Burgess Road, Thorpe Bay, near the junction with Thorpe Hall Avenue, on Tuesday, May 25 at about 3.30pm.

The cyclist, a 47-year-old man from Shoebury, was taken to Southend Hospital and treated for cuts and bruises.

Officers are investigating the incident want to hear from anyone with information about the car, a maroon Mercedes with an M registration, and the man driving it. The Mercedes drove off in the general direction of Shoebury.

I do not know the cyclist concerned, but I hope your injuries heal soon, and that the dangerous driver is found and removed from the road asap.

I will be keeping a lookout for this Mercedes, and will be encouraging many other cyclists in the area to do the same.

You're absolutely right, this maniac needs to be taken off the roads. Fingers crossed the policy take action and provide justice to this innocent man. I will keep a keen eye out for this car, and I'm sure others will too.
