  • "Ron Martin appears to be involved with more Companies than you can find on a Monopoly board!
No doubt he'll shuffle the myriad of cheque books he has in his sky rocket, and out will pop another £200K to stave off HMRC.
I think our only saving grace is that some demented film director soul might approach Ron to make a hit Flick about is ducking and diving life, or Waddingtons offer him a princely sum to launch a new board or computer game, based on spending the least money to own the most listed PLCs/Pro Football Clubs.
Meanwhile our player count is almost a parody on 'ol mother Hubbard ...... with Tils inthe lead role, finding the changing room bare!
Here's hoping Blues climb out of this abyss, that we seem to be hurtling towards like headless chickens!"

Taxman and loan company submit winding up petitions against Southend United

SOUTHEND United is facing another High Court battle with the taxman.

As the Echo revealed in today's paper, the club has to defend a winding up petition from loan company Charterhouse Commercial Finance on July 14.

However, it has also emerged HM Customs has lodged its third petition to wind up the club over unpaid taxes in less than a year.

The case goes to the High Court next Thursday over a £200,000 debt relating to outstanding PAYE contributions for April and May this year.

In a statement on the club website chairman Ron Martin said it would be settled before next week's hearing.
