New roller skating rink proves popular at Cliffs Pavilion

IT was like stepping back to the Eighties as a roller skating rink came to Westcliff.

People, from the young to the not quite old, put their skates on to make the most of the rink in the outside terrace of the Cliffs Pavilion.

And when the heavens opened during the rink’s first day of business on Saturday not even the rain could stop the crowds enjoying themselves.

Staff at the Cliffs moved the roller rink to the auditorium – which is currently out of action ahead of new carpets being fitted – so people could make the most of their skating session.

Around 60 people took part in the first hour-long slot at the rink.

House manager at the Cliffs, Oliver Stacey said a good time was had by all.

Let's hope the new Rolla City to be gets the go ahead some day soon in Rochford - it's going to be absolutely fantastic - I can't wait for the kids to have the same experience that I did in the 80's - can't think of anywhere better to go too - about time that Southend had somewhere new and amazing for families to visit!!!
