Shop fire in Hadleigh

A NEWSAGENTS has suffered serious damage following a fierce blaze.

The Royals News and Convenience Store in Rectory Road, Hadleigh, was ravaged by the fire, which broke out about 10pm last night.

Four crews from Rayleigh Weir and Canvey stations spent three hours battling the blaze and prevented the fire spreading to neighbouring properties.

Rayleigh Weir sub-officer Paul Moth said: “It was a serious fire.

“The shop was very badly damaged.

“When we arrived, there was lots of smoke with flames coming out of the window."

Mr Moth said the fire was caused by an elecrical fault with the shop's main power supply from outside.

Nothing on the Fire Service Incidents section as usual. That site is quite poor when it comes to looking at how OUR fire service is performing.

Tell us what you are doing, for goodness sake!!

Nicely said! I agree. Strangely though they are actually quite proud of that particular service!!

The Incidents section of our website is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all incidents the service has attended. It is there instead to keep the media informed of major incidents. The log is aimed primarily at journalists and will never cover everything that happens. The incident referred to here was in fact a small fire and logged on our system as such.
