FIREFIGHTERS were called when a flat flooded in the early hours of the morning.
Crews from Rayleigh Weir and Canvey stations went to the property in Benfleet Road, Benfleet, about 4.30am this morning.
They had to break into the unoccupied flat which had flooded and was leaking water into the one below.
Rayleigh Weir sub-officer Paul Moth said the immersion boiler had boiled over.
He said crews spent about two hours at the scene cleaning up the premises and making sure it was safe.
