BAILIFFS have won their battle to evict a mum-of-four who had refused to leave a house.

Natasha Anderson, 32, finally left her home in Hannah Close, Canvey, following a 90-minute stand-off involving police and bailiffs.

It was the second day bailiffs had tried to force her out of the five-bedroom house.

They aborted a previous eviction attempt on Tuesday following an angry two-hour stand off, and gave the family a 24-hour extension.

Ms Anderson told the Echo at the time that she planned to stay in the house – threatening to chain herself to the building if necessary.

Nick Neale, from Griffin Property Services, which is acting on behalf of the landlord, claims Ms Anderson owes £11,000 in rent.

He said: “She went fairly peacefully in the end. We have changed the locks, but her stuff is still inside and she will have to arrange to come and pick it up.

“She had ample opportunity to contest the eviction.”

Neighbours living in the street say the family caused a nuisance.

One woman, who regularly visited the street to see a friend, said: “If the kids are there I try and avoid them because they are rude.

“They had parties until late at night and it is not acceptable.”

Ms Anderson was first given notice to quit the property on May 26.

She claims her rent was being paid by housing benefit. But Griffin say it did not cover the whole amount and the arrears built up.

The firm appointed a bailiff after Ms Anderson failed to turn up to an eviction hearing at Southend County Court last week.

The Echo was unable to contact Ms Anderson for a comment.
