Basildon councillors refused to fly anything other than the British and English flags on Europe Day.
Local councils and government departments were supposed to fly the European flag today to mark Europe Day.
However, Euro-sceptic Tory leaders of Basildon Council refused to hoist it outside the Basildon Centre.
