A PARK is set to receive a £30,000 makeover as part of a planning agreement.
Old play equipment at the Pomfret Mead play area, off The Gore, Basildon, will be taken away and replaced with brand new swings, a slide, a rope ladder and a climbing net.
The money has come from Barratt Wilson Bowden, which is building 144 new homes on the site of the old swimming pool, car park and netball court at Gloucester Park.
Phil Turner, Basildon councillor responsible for resources, added: “We are committed to investing in our key play areas across the borough, and I am delighted that we can use £30,000 of external funds to do this.
“These improvements will encourage more parents and grandparents to take their children to use the play area and will help to make it a focal point for the community.”
The works will be carried out by Surrey-based SMP Playgrounds and will be tested and ready to use by September 7.
