The boss of two Basildon companies which went into liquidation owning investors £1.2million has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Matthew Ames, 36, from Goldfinch Lane, Thundersley, was arrested by City of London Police on suspicion of fraud by false representation and fraudulent trading.
He was bailed until the new year, pending further inquiries.
The police probe followed an Echo investigation in two of his companies Forestry for Life Limited and The Investor Club.
