A MAN has been arrested after a child died in a hit-and-run. .
The six-year-old boy was knocked down while crossing London Road, Westcliff, with his mum.
Police have now arrested a man who is currently being interviewed.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.30pm and the road was closed from the junction with Milton Road to the junction with Hamlet Court Road.
The collision, opposite Balmoral Road, involved a green motorbike which failed to stop and a bike matching the same description was later found in a nearby street.
Officers want to speak to anyone who saw the bike leaving the scene or saw anyone dumping it and running away.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
