Exclusive: Traveller eviction cost £6.5million

EVICTING travellers from the illegal Dale Farm site cost Essex taxpayers £6.5million.
Essex Police has just revealed its costs for the operation were more than £2.3million.
The significant bill pushes the total cost of the clearance to taxpayers to £6.5million including Basildon Council's £4.2million revealed by the Echo last year.
Yet both the police and council feared it could have cost up to £18million between them.
