Deputy leader of Basildon Council Steve Horgan passes away from cancer

Stephen Horgan
THE deputy leader of Basildon Council has passed away after a nine year battle with cancer.
Stephen Horgan, 47, who had been a councillor for 13 years, represented Billericay West.
Mr Horgan, who was also cabinet member for regeneration, sadly passed away at Basildon Hospital after his condition worsened in the past week.
Touching tributes have been paid to Mr Horgan by council leader Tony Ball.
Mr Ball said: "He was my best friend in politics and a great personal friend."
