ANTHONY Grant hopes to be enjoying another Gresty Road highlight this weekend.

The midfielder bagged the first goal of his career when Blues memorably won 4-3 at Crewe back in September 2008.

And he is now bidding for more of the same in the first leg of the play-off semi-final tomorrow.

“That Crewe goal was one of the best moments of my career so far and I don’t think anyone ever forgets their first league goal, so it’s a special ground for me,” said Grant.

“It was a really good game that day and I only came on for the last 10 minutes.

“The manager at the time (Steve Tilson) told me to go on and get the winning goal and we both laughed.

“I hadn’t scored for about four years until then, so it was nice to finally get the goal.

“It was only a tap-in but I don’t seem to be able to score inside the penalty area any more so it’s probably unlikely to happen again.”

But Grant, who is Blues’ longest-serving player, is relishing another battle against a Crewe side who are renowned for playing good football.

“Crewe pass the ball well and are hard to play against,” said Grant.

“We’ve had some really good games with them over the years and I’m sure the ones we have coming up will be exactly the same.”
