SOUTHEND Lawn ladies went a point clear at the top of Leigh & Westcliff Division Two after thumping Rayleigh II 6-0.
Amy Sergeant and Sophie Scanlon saw off Gill Whittington and Jean Catley 6-3 6-2, while Annabelle McCrimmon and Sally Marsham beat Lynn Piper and Dot Monte 6-1 6-2.
Jo Day and Sandy Bysouth wrapped up the win with victory over Jan Cooper and Jan Arrowsmith.
Southend are a point clear of Hockley, while Rayleigh are a point adrift at the bottom.
Kent Elms II deposed Thorpe Bay IV from the top of Men’s Division Four after beating them 5-1.
Jed Fernley and Brindley Piper levelled the first set 6-3 after Elms’ Terry Savage and Bryan Bone had taken the first 6-2.
But Pat Taylor and Trevor Noad beat Bay’s Colin Merender and Konrad Wolfe 6-4 7-5, before Craig Butler and Adam Yates beat defeated Ian Carlile and Phil Coole 7-3 7-5.
David Lloyd II’s unbeaten run stretched to three matches at the top of Men’s Division Six with a 6-0 victory over Rochford II. Lloyd have yet to drop a set this season
