ARMED police sealed off Fairfax Drive after reports of someone with a gun in a corner shop.

Police closed the road for an hour between Tintern Avenue and Ronald Park Avenue and have surrounded the News and Store shop on the corner of Ronald Park Avenue.

They were called just before 4pm to reports that someone had been threatened with a fire arm inside the shop.

They carried out a search of the building and nearby surrounding area.

The road was reopened just after 5.30pm but police remained on the scene.
