Man robbed on Southend seafront
3:41pm Friday 29th June 2012 in News
A MAN was robbed as he walked home in the early hours of the morning along Southend seafront.
Between 3.45am and 4am on Wednesday, June 27, the victim was walking along Western Esplanade between Genting Casino, formerly Maxims Casino, and Adventure Island.
He was approached by five black men and one of the men asked for a cigarette.
When he replied that he didn't have any, one of the suspects grabbed the victim by the wrist and restrained him while the others searched through the victim’s pockets. The suspects stated they had weapons although none were seen. They then walked off along the seafront toward the direction of Leigh. Nothing was stolen.
Investigating officer, Pc Samantha Winter said: "Although nothing was stolen, it left the victim fairly shaken afterwards. If anyone has any information please contact us.”
The suspects are described as black men, in their early 20s, all in dark clothing with their hoods up or hats on.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Samantha Winter on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
