Thief targets tools in securtity van

CCTV – do you know him? CCTV – do you know him?

A BRAZEN thief stole tools from a security systems van despite realising he had been caught on camera.

The man picked the lock of a security van outside an employee’s home in Hazel Close, Hadleigh.

David Broom, who has worked as an engineer for the company for 17 years, was asleep when the tools were stolen at around 5.20am.

However CCTV footage from his home security camera captured the thief stealing two power drills worth about £750 even though he spotted the camera.

Mr Broom, 42, said: “The cameras are clearly visible outside the house so this guy must have a screw loose.

“I locked the van, but he picked the lock and then saw the cameras after looking through my front window. He dived to avoid them, but the cameras already had him. Then he took the tools and went.”

Good advert for the firm. Nice clear CCTV. Well done, hope the guy is caught.

Poor bloke...as Mr Broom rightly pointed out, he must have had a screw loose....all he wanted was to borrow a screwdriver

Exactly, lmao! How ironic that a van plastered with “Burglar Alarms”, “Fire Alarms” and CCTV gets broken into! This is terrible advertising for the firm; they should have invested in some better security systems for their vans. In the long run it would have paid off by preventing negative publicity like this!

OK so it sounds like perhaps you weren’t being sarcastic but if you weren’t you should have been! This is the worst kind of advertising fathomable, beyond belief!

My Van was broken into 3years ago regardless of the alarm which only sounds for 30 seconds by law, I slept thro it, plus the van is made of thin tin which can be opened with a tin opener in seconds.

The CCTV picture is really good, plus the firm are being honest and vehicle security is and always will be a big risk.

Van security on all new vans is truly shy t, and manufacturers do not give a shy t.

Plus if the alarm guy was on callout he needs to use his van all hours day and night, and probably slept thro the alarm.

Anyway let's not forget the scumbag is the thieving barstool not anyone else.

Forgot to say if it was the guy who nicked my tools and left me unable to pay my mortgage that month I would love to pay him a friendly visit as my family would!

We really suffered for a long period after the theft, and I had invested in alarms deadlocks etc, vehicle security is not like building security it is protecting a thin metal box with glass which is left in the street.

A total piece of garbage that steals from workers and in my opinion lower than a slugs R Sole.
