A STATE-OF-THE-ART business lounge has opened at Southend Airport for private jets flying in for the Olympics.


The arrivals hall in the old terminal building has undergone a £500,000 transformation to create the modern area.

Earlier this month, the Echo revealed Landmark Aviation, which has bases at more than 50 airports across the world, named Southend Airport as its only destination for passengers flying in for the Games.

The new area includes a meeting room with full video conferencing technology, a pilot’s rest zone and facilities for drivers who are waiting for passengers.
