Canvey Island county councillor Brian Wood joins UKIP

Canvey Island's county councillor Brian Wood has joined the UK Independence Party.

Mr Wood, currently an independent councillor representing the Canvey Island East Division, will now stand for re-election in May 2013 under the UKIP banner.

He said: "I have thought long and hard about this and I came to the conclusion that without the support of a credible political party, with realistic aims, policies and plans to achieve them, I can't get the best results for my constituents."

Former firefighter Mr Wood served as a borough councillor on Canvey from 2004 to 2012 and was elected to Essex County Council in 2009.

He is a member of its community and older people policy scrutiny committee and the executive scrutiny committee.

Brilliant news!!! VOTE UKIP!!! The other three parties are all the same and are out of date. UKIP provides a fresh choice with common sense for voters.

That only happens when 'truth will be perverted' complains to his 'mates' in admin. The thumbs up/down facility has been removed because he was getting so many thumbs down right across the boards. Seems others had noticed his strange character too.

Good news. Although I support the English Democrats Party, UKIP probably have the best chance of challenging the LIB-LAB-CON monopoly. If you keep voting for more of the same, don't be surprised if that's what you get.

Don't you think that as you suggest the party was voted for not the person Councillor Wood who was elected as a CIIP representative should stand down and have a bye election when he stands for UKIP?
I said exactly the same when our then MP changes parties from Conservative to UKIP.
