Southend man's clip "Happiest Olympic Worker 2012" attracts more than 500,000 views on YouTube

A SOUTHEND man’s video about an “enthusiastic” Olympic volunteer has gone viral with more than 500,000 views on YouTube.

Olly Gourley posted the clip, called “The Happiest Olympic Worker 2012” on the video sharing site ahead of Friday’s opening ceremony. Within hours it had gone viral with thousands of people across the globe logging on to watch the worker’s dry humour as she directed people through the Olympic Park.

The four-minute clip has become and internet sensation and is now one of the most shared videos on the site.

well if you discount the thousands of clips that have over 5 million views, then yes it is. Is the Echo now a training ground for The Daily Mail?

In the context of the internet, I wouldnt class 500,000 views as a viral video. I would have thought that viral from a global/internet point of view would be at least a million or similar. Theres vids with 40 million odd views or more!

I thought I would watch the video and see what all the fuss was about and she was actually quite amusing,however I can't see how it needed a "full story in tomorrows echo". Surely this was the full story? I did not buy that edition so sadly I will never know.
